The primary goal of the AK STAR Phlebotomy course is to achieve national certification for each student. Upon completion of this course, each student will sit for a nationally accredited written exam and perform a practical exam. Students successfully completing both the national exam, practical exam and the required clinical hours, will be available for work in the healthcare industry as nationally certified phlebotomy technicians. Students attending AK-STAR Phlebotomy Program shall meet the following requirements: Tongass Substance Screening High School Graduate or equivalent Tongass Substance Screening CPR/First Aid Certified Tongass Substance Screening Completed Application Form Submitted to AK-STAR for approval Tongass Substance Screening KGH Student/Volunteer Orientation Completion The objective of this course is to graduate a quality phlebotomist that is immediately employable in the healthcare industry.
